Institute of Massive Computing, IMC

the Institute of Massive Computing (ECNU) was established, based on the ideas of Academician Jifeng HE, who was the dean of Software School, with the intention to attract talents.

2012_06

the Center for Cloud Computing and Big Data (ECNU) was founded, with the support of Dr. Vishal Sikka, who was the CTO of SAP.

2013_09

the Institute for Data Science & Engineering (also known as the Institute for Big Data) was set up, as an independent subsidiary unit at ECNU.

2016_09

the School of Data Science & Engineering was established, on the basis of the Institute for Data Science & Engineering. A comprehensive training program on data science & engineering was set up, covering the curriculums for Bachelor, Master 2and Ph.D.

2017_04

The first enrollment of undergraduate students at DaSE.

2019_05

Establishment of the Department of Computer Science Education, following the merge of the former Computing Center into DaSE.

Enlistment of DaSE in the National First-Class Undergraduate Training Programs, as the first enlisted Data Science Program national wide.

2022_07

Establishment of the first-level discipline of "Data Science and Engineering" at ECNU.
