DaSE upholds the belief that "needs drive innovation" and "openness fostersinnovation", cultivating outstanding talents who can unleash the value of data andpossessinnovative awareness and capabilities. DaSE has created aBachelor/MasterPhD combined training program for data science and engineering. The training phases include those of theoretical study, literature review practice andscientific research practice, which are highly personalized. The school enrollsgraduate students who pursuit academic PhD or Master degree in theinterdisciplinary major ofData Science and Engineering, as well as professionaPhD or Master degrees in the major of Big Data Technology and Engineering underthe Electronic and Information Engineering discipline.
DaSE adopts a laboratory tutoring system to train postgraduate students. Eachlaboratory has clear medium and long-term development goals, specific researchtasks and financial support, and has a unique technical route and talent cultivationpath. The research task undertaken by the laboratory may come from a certainindustry or enterprise, or it may be an important national scientific research project.Thelaboratory supervisor, together with other members of the postgraduatesupervisor team, determines the student's course selection plan, practicainternship activities and dissertation writing. The postgraduate curricula arecontinuous parts of the undergraduate curriculum. They are designed to reflect thecurrent development of technologies and the current demands of the industry. Theyalso have strong connection with the research interests of DaSE’s facultymembers. The practical training of postgraduates is carried out in various researchprojects, including projects funded by national science foundations as well as thosefunded byindustrial enterprises.
DaSE organizes academic activities, such as the Summer School ofData Scienceand Engineering (DaSESS), graduate academic salon, theme forum, etc., tobroaden students' horizons, enhance entrepreneurial interest, and exerciseinnovation ability. In addition, the school actively seeks research grants andfellowship support for graduate students. In addition to national scholarships andacademic scholarships, the college has participated in the funding system of theschool's "Three-Year Action Plan for Qualitylmprovement of Doctoral Students", andintroduced a number of companies to set up enterprise sponsored scholarships toreward students who made achievements in learning.
